Pune Shocker: Minor Shot As Pistol Goes Off During Filming, Three Arrested

Pune witnessed a shocking incident after a life-threatening joke involving a pistol among friends left a minor seriously injured. The incident, which took place in the Hadapsar area, has led to the arrest of three individuals, police confirmed.

The group had gathered to take photographs and shoot videos when the situation turned dangerous. During the recording, one of the youths pointed a pistol at his friend in jest, but the firearm went off unexpectedly, striking the victim in the waist and causing severe injuries.

Following the incident, speculation arose that the shooting may have been carried out deliberately, possibly to spread fear. However, subsequent findings by Pune Police have revealed that the incident was not intentional but the result of negligence and reckless behaviour.

Sequence Of Events Leading To Shooting

The incident took place in Pune, involving a minor residing in Gulmohar Colony, Hadapsar. He had been with a group of friends near Gurukrupa Society in Keshavnagar at the time.

One of the individuals, identified as Sonu, also known as Sonya Munde, had brought along an illegal country-made pistol. The group began handling the weapon, showing it to one another while continuing to record videos and take photographs.

In the course of this activity, Sonya Munde pointed the pistol at the minor as part of a joke. The situation turned critical when the firearm was discharged unexpectedly, striking the victim.

On witnessing the injury and bleeding, the group panicked and immediately rushed the injured boy to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Arrests Made By Police
Following an investigation by Mundhwa Police, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Saksham Yuvraj Gaikwad (19), Om Durga Gaikwad (19), and Sonu alias Sonya Munde (21).

A minor who was present at the scene has also been taken into custody.

The growing fascination with illegal firearms among youth in Pune, along with the serious incidents resulting from it, is emerging as a matter of significant concern. Police are now probing the source of the illegal firearm and the circumstances under which it came into the possession of the accused. The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Pinguwale.
