JP Nadda Visits Injured CJP Protesters At Delhi Hospital, Holds Meeting With Doctors
Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Tuesday visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital to meet protesters injured during Monday’s violent demonstrations in the national capital over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, as the Centre continued efforts to defuse the escalating crisis.
The hospital visit came a day after thousands of protesters, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), attempted to march towards Parliament demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protest resulted in clashes with Delhi Police, injuries to both protesters and police personnel, and widespread disruption across central Delhi.
Earlier in the day, Nadda also held talks with a CJP delegation comprising national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka and chief spokesperson Saurav Das at his residence.
Speaking briefly after the meeting while arriving for the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, ‘Mangal Milan’, Nadda told reporters, “It was fine, it is always fine.”
According to the CJP, the delegation raised three key demands before the Union Minister, the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide, and the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently hospitalised.
The group said the protest would continue until their demands were met.
In a post on X, Ashutosh Ranka said the delegation had conveyed its demand for Pradhan’s immediate resignation or removal. He added that Nadda assured them he would discuss the matter “at the appropriate level”, though no commitment had been made.
Nadda, in his own post on X, said the proposal for talks had come from the protesters and described the discussions as cordial.
He added that after detailed verbal discussions, the delegation submitted a written memorandum around 4 pm.
The CJP, however, maintained that it was the government that had initiated the outreach.
The group claimed Nadda sought time for internal consultations with the government leadership on its demands, including Wangchuk’s release, Pradhan’s resignation and compensation for affected families.
Monday’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest witnessed dramatic scenes across central Delhi, with police using lathis and tear gas to stop protesters from reaching Parliament.
Demonstrators included students, parents, senior citizens and supporters carrying placards, the national flag and raising slogans demanding accountability over the alleged paper leak.
Delhi Police said more than 118 police personnel, including several senior officers, were injured during the clashes, while around 60 protesters also sustained injuries.
The police alleged protesters attacked security personnel with stones, attempted to breach barricades and vandalised public property.
The CJP, on the other hand, accused police of excessive force and alleged that pellet guns had been used against demonstrators, an allegation on which police had not commented.
The issue also reached Parliament, where repeated disruptions were witnessed as Opposition members raised the protest.
