Evidence Missing, Body Shifted: Two Key Questions Emerge In Twisha Sharma’s Death Probe
In the investigation of the death case of 31-year-old Twisha Sharma, a major lapse by the police officials has come into the limelight amid calls for justice in the case that has shaken the entire nation.
The doctors in AIIMS Bhopal were not provided with the ligature material, which is the strap that Twisha had allegedly used for hanging, during the postmortem examination, even though it was a mandatory part of the forensic procedure.
According to the protocol, the police officials were supposed to submit the material used for hanging to the doctors during autopsy to compare the neck marks with the alleged ligature.
It was because of this missing piece of crucial evidence that the doctors failed to match the alleged ligature material with the marks on the neck of the Noida woman, which has triggered demands for further investigation, along with allegations of tampering with evidence.
Another crucial point that has emerged in the investigation is the movement of Twisha’s dead body by her husband and others, without any presence of police officials.
Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old model and actress, had met Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024. The couple had got married in December 2025. On May 12, Twisha was found hanging at her marital home in Katara Hills, Bhopal.
The woman’s family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, physical and mental abuse, and use of influence to weaken the investigation.
Missing Piece Of Evidence
Speaking on the missing belt to IANS, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajnish Kashyap of the Khara Hill said that the noose was seized from the crime scene; however, the investigating officer failed to submit it.
“Regarding the matter of the noose used for the hanging, it was indeed seized from the crime scene on the very day of the incident. However, the police personnel, the investigating officer, who visited the scene to conduct the inquiry, failed to submit it during the post-mortem examination,” Kashyap said.
He added that the belt was later given to the Forensic Science Laboratory team and then deposited at AIIMS Bhopal.
“We are currently investigating this lapse, and appropriate action will be taken based on the information that emerges from this inquiry. Subsequently, the item was handed over to the Forensic Science Laboratory team, and the material has since been deposited at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal. Once the forensic report is received, this specific issue will also be clarified,” he added.
Moving Dead Body Without Police At Scene
Speaking about the fact that Twisha’s body was taken down from the noose and taken to the hospital without first summoning the police to the scene, Kashyap said that this is the key point of the investigation.
“This constitutes a key point in our ongoing investigation, and we are actively looking into it. Closed-circuit television cameras are installed at their residence, and we are currently retrieving footage from them. We are also conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her transportation to the hospital. I assure you that every aspect of this case will be thoroughly investigated, and action will be taken based on the findings,” the Assistant Commissioner of Police said.
Allegations Of Being A Drug Addict
Twisha Sharma’s family has also claimed that Samarth Singh’s mother Giribala Singh – who is a retired judge and co-accused in the case – had undue influence on their marriage.
On the other hand, Giribala Singh has claimed that Twisha was a drug addict and psychiatric patient and at times used to show symptoms of withdrawal when she did not receive her dose.
On Giribala Singh’s allegations, Kashyap said, “To date, the police have not received any concrete information or evidence to substantiate this claim. If this allegation surfaces, it will also be investigated.”
Twisha Sharma’s family has alleged that she underwent a drastic change after her marriage, claiming the once cheerful young woman lost nearly 15 kilograms due to sustained mental harassment.
On Monday, chats exchanged between Twisha, her mother and a close friend surfaced, revealing repeated pleas for help and requests to be taken back home from Bhopal. In conversations with her friend, she also warned against getting “trapped” in marriage.
The messages further hinted at a pregnancy and abortion, with Samarth Singh allegedly questioning the paternity of the child. Her relatives said she remained in contact with them until around 10 pm on the night of her death.
