Delhi Teen Shot After Objecting To Man Brushing Past His Chair, Hospitalised In Critical Condition

A teenager was allegedly shot and critically injured in a restaurant in South Delhi’s Amar Colony after he objected to a man brushing past his chair while leaving the place, according to police.

The victim, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was rushed to Moolchand Hospital. He was later referred to the AIIMS, where his condition was said to be critical and he was put on ventilator support, according to news agency PTI.

Police officials said the victim had gone to the eatery with his friends, including a girl, when a group of boys passed by their table, and one of them touched the chair. The teenager objected to this and asked him to walk properly, leading to an argument.

The passing group left the restaurant, but returned a few minutes later. One of them fired a gunshot at the victim before fleeing. Police have formed multiple teams to identify and locate the accused persons.

CCTV footage from the restaurant and surrounding areas is being scanned to establish the sequence of events and trace the route used by the accused to escape, a police officer said.

India TV reported that a bullet was lodged in the teenager’s brain, and doctors have described his condition as extremely serious. Authorities are yet to confirm whether the accused and the victims knew each other prior to the confrontation.

The victim’s father runs a laundry business in the Chattarpur Enclave area. Further investigation is underway.

In a separate incident, a woman and her teenage son were found stabbed to death inside their residence in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area last week. Police suspect robbery may have been one of the motives behind the killings, as cash and jewellery were allegedly found missing from the house.
