‘Putin Talks Nice, Then Bombs At Night’: Trump Says US To Send Patriot Missiles To Ukraine

US President Donald Trump on Sunday said he is “very disappointed” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of saying one thing and doing another. “I thought he was somebody that meant what he said — and he’ll talk so beautifully, then he’ll bomb people at night. We don’t like that,” Trump told reporters, expressing frustration over Moscow’s ongoing assault on Ukraine.

Trump also confirmed that the US will send Patriot air defence missiles to Kyiv, though he did not specify how many.

In a sharp shift from earlier US policy, Trump also declared that the United States would no longer be paying for the next tranche of weapons headed to Ukraine. “We are spending ZERO DOLLARS,” he said. “The European Union is paying for it. We’re not paying ANYTHING. It’ll be business for us.”

The comments underline Trump’s long-standing criticism of what he sees as lopsided burden-sharing among NATO allies. “That’s the way it SHOULD’VE BEEN a long time ago,” he added, reiterating his view that Europe should take greater responsibility for regional security.

The European Union has not yet responded to Trump’s announcement. The move marks a reversal from earlier remarks where he opposed further US military aid, and comes amid ongoing debate over the West’s role in supporting Ukraine’s defence against Russian aggression.
