Colonel Sofiya Qureshi’s Family Showers Petals On PM Modi Amid Gujarat Roadshow
Family members of Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi were seen showering flower petals on Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he held a roadshow in Gujarat’s Vadodara on Monday.
The Prime Minister is on a two-day visit to the state, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various developmental projects.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi is one of the two women officers who briefed the media on ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 8.
She is also the first woman to lead an Indian Army contingent at a multi-national military exercise named ‘Exercise Force 18’, which is the largest ever foreign military exercise hosted by India.
Later, speaking to the media, Colonel Qureshi’s sister Shyna Sunsara said PM Modi has done a lot for women’s empowerment.
“We felt good meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has done a lot for women’s empowerment. Sofiya is my twin sister. When your sister does something for the country, it inspires everyone. She is no longer just my sister but the country’s sister.”
Her mother, Halima Bibi, said, “I felt happy to meet PM Modi ji. Women and sisters are happy with ‘Operation Sindoor’.”
Also speaking to the media, Sanjay Qureshi, brother of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, said, “It was a great moment when PM Modi came here. We got to see him for the first time.”
“Through gestures, he greeted us. I thank our defence forces and the government of India, which gave this chance to my sister. A woman taking revenge for the women who suffered so much, what can be better than this?” he said.
