Vikram Misri Meets US Under Secretary Jeffrey Kessler; Discusses Tech, Trade Collaboration
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday met US Under Secretary Jeffrey Kessler in Washington.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed the advancement of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in critical and emerging technologies, the Indian Embassy in Washington said.
The Indian Embassy in the US also shared a photo of Misri and Kessler meeting, and wrote, “Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Under Secretary Jeffrey Kessler to advance cooperation in critical & emerging technologies.”
“They also discussed early convening of the India-US Strategic Trade Dialogue to deepen tech & trade collaboration.”
Misri is visiting Washington, DC from May 27-29 to meet with senior officials of the US administration, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Monday.
The visit is a follow-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States in February 2025, when both sides launched the India-US COMPACT (Catalysing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce and Technology) for the 21st century, the MEA said.
Last week, Misri briefed the members of the four multi-party delegations, including those led by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, when they were to travel to world capitals to convey India’s resolve for zero tolerance on terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
After the briefing by Misri, the delegates said they would work to bust the Pakistani narrative of projecting India as the aggressor by underscoring the links of Pahalgam terrorists to the country.
