‘They Mocked His Chaiwala Background’: BJP Hits Out At Congress Over PM Modi’s AI Video

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday hit out at the Congress after party spokesperson Ragini Nayak shared an AI-generated video depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a chaiwala (tea vendor).

Poonawalla said the post was another example of what he called Congress’s “elitist mindset” toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s humble origins.

“After Renuka Choudhary insults Parliament & Sena, now Ragini Nayak attacks and mocks PM Modi’s chaiwala background,” Poonawalla wrote in an X post, accusing the Congress of being unable to accept a Prime Minister who rose from poverty.

“Naamdar Congress cannot stand a Kamdar PM from OBC community who has come from a poor background,” he added.

Poonawalla alleged that Congress leaders had a history of belittling the Prime Minister.

“They mocked his chaiwala background earlier, too. They abused him 150 times. They abused his mother in Bihar,” he said, adding that “people will never forgive them.”

The controversy erupted after Ragini Nayak posted the AI-generated clip, which was being seen as an attempt to mock PM Modi’s early life as a tea seller.

“Now, who did this,” Ragini Nayak had posted the caption along with the AI- AI-generated video.

This comes months after a similar controversy during the Congress’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, while the campaigning for the assembly election was underway.

At that time, an unknown person managed to get on the party’s stage and shouted insults at PM Modi and his mother.

Meanwhile, a war of words erupted between Congress MPs and the BJP over repeated insults to either the Prime Minister, the Parliament, or other leaders.

On Tuesday, BJP spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra said the dignity of the Parliament was hurt by the statements of Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier on December 2, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury had launched a sharp attack on Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, calling him “nalayak” (useless), after the latter criticised the Opposition for obstructing Parliamentary proceedings over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Her attack came after Rijiju emphasised that while every concern holds significance, using them to block Parliament proceedings is “not right.”
