‘Govt Must Treat Him Strictly As Criminal’: Sidhu Moose Wala’s Family On Anmol Bishnoi’s Deportation

The family of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala has reacted to the deportation of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, calling on the government to stop portraying his return to India as any form of accomplishment.

Reacting to reports that Anmol, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is being flown back from the United States, Moose Wala’s uncle said the development should not be described as a government feat but treated purely as a criminal procedure.

“Anmol Bishnoi’s deportation is not a government achievement. Bringing Anmol back is not the government’s achievement,” Moose Wala’s uncle said, stressing that authorities must take uncompromising action against those accused of serious crimes.

He said Anmol must be dealt with strictly under Indian law.

“Treat him like a criminal, not a VIP. The government must treat Anmol strictly as a criminal because he is a criminal in India,” he added.

The family also warned against extending any form of special treatment to gangsters inside jails, saying that such privileges embolden them and allow them to continue influencing vulnerable youth.

“Gangsters should be kept in jail like criminals, not given VIP treatment,” he said.

According to him, such facilities have enabled gangsters to exploit poor children for their operations.

“It is because of such VIP facilities that these gangsters exploit poor children and get them killed,” he added, calling for an overhaul in how high-profile accused are housed and monitored.

Anmol Bishnoi, a key accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, is being deported to India from the US, a police official confirmed on Tuesday.

He is also a wanted accused in the firing incident at Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024.

According to officials, he is expected to land in Delhi on Wednesday.

The Mumbai Police had earlier sent two proposals related to his extradition, and multiple cases are registered against him across the country.

The Central government will decide which agency will receive his custody first, officials said.
