
‘GOAT In God’s Own Country’: Lionel Messi To Visit Kerala In November
World Champions Argentina and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi are set to thrill fans in Kerala as the AFA announced their visit to Kerala in the month of November for an exhibition game.
The magician from Rosario, who led Argentina to their third World Cup trophy, is set to travel to Angola’s Capital City of Luanda and Kerala for friendly games.
AFA took to the social media platform Instagram to share, “#SelecciónMayor Information about the 2025 internationals friendlies that will face the National Team led by Lionel Scaloni.”
“FIFA date for the month of October, between the 6th and the 14th, will be played in the United States, rivals and cities to be determined,” the post continued.
“FIFA date for the month of November, between the 10th and the 18th, will be played in Luanda, Angola, and Kerala, India, rivals to be determined, Let’s go, Argentina,” the update added.
Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman had earlier vowed that the Argentina football team, led by captain Messi, will play in the land dubbed as ‘God’s own country’ and AFA’s post suggest that he has come through on his promise.
Earlier in the month, reports suggested that Messi would land in Kolkata on the 12th, travel to Ahmedabad on the 13th, attend programmes in Mumbai on the 14th, and conclude with a visit to Delhi on the 15th, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These contrasting announcements had created uncertainty, but Kerala officials remained confident that Messi and the Argentina squad will visit the state in November, highlighting the government’s active coordination with the AFA. Messi, who is also slated to visit three other Indian cities, Kolkata, New Delhi and Ahmedabad, as part of a personal tour.
