Delhi Man Dies After Getting Trapped In Lift During Vishal Mega Mart Fire
A 25-year-old man died after being stuck in a lift in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area.
The deceased, identified as Kumar Dhirender Pratap Singh, got trapped in the lift while a fire broke out at Vishal Mega Mart.
His body was found in a lift during a search and rescue operation jointly carried out by police, fire, and disaster response teams.
According to a statement by the Delhi Police, a fire engulfed the second floor of the four-storey building located on Padam Singh Road.
“This is a Vishal Mega Mart outlet where grocery and fabric items are sold. The fire was confined mainly to the second floor,” the statement added.
The firefighters reached the spot after receiving the information. It took 13 fire tenders to douse the fire.
The cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
An FIR has also been filed in the matter at Karol Bagh Police Station and an investigation is underway.
