BJP Slams Karnataka Govt Over ‘VIP Treatment’ For ISIS Recruiter, Flags National Security Threat

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of compromising national security after a video from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail showed an alleged ISIS operative enjoying VIP treatment inside the high-security facility.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared the video on X, writing, “TERRORIST GETS VIP TREATMENT UNDER CONGRESS RULE IN KARNATAKA! A chilling video from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail exposes how ISIS recruiter Junaid Hameed Shakeel Manna enjoys VIP treatment inside a high-security prison, using mobile phones and watching television freely.”

He alleged that the ISIS operative, accused of radicalising youth, remained in constant touch with his network outside the prison, calling it a “direct threat to national security.”

Malviya further claimed that Karnataka’s prisons have become “comfort zones for terrorists and criminals” under the Congress government, adding that such incidents reflect “total administrative collapse.”

The controversy erupted after reports and videos surfaced showing alleged irregularities in the prison, including inmates using phones and other amenities. Sources said the accused ISIS recruiter had access to a smartphone and was using it freely inside his cell.

Following the outrage, Director General of Prisons B. Dayananda ordered a detailed inquiry and directed officials to verify the footage that also purportedly features high-profile inmates Umesh Reddy and Tarun Raju.
