Bihar Polls: Tejashwi Yadav Promises Rs 30,000 Salary, Govt Employee Status For ‘Jeevika Didis’

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday said that “Jeevika Didis”, the women associated with the state’s rural livelihood mission, will be granted government employee status and a monthly salary of ₹30,000.

“We will fulfill every promise we are making, no matter the cost. The extent of exploitation faced by Jeevika Didis cannot even be described,” he said, adding that the decision came after reviewing their working conditions and listening to their grievances.

Yadav also mentioned that “Jeevika Didis” will have their loan interest waived for the next two years, during which they will receive interest-free credit, an additional Rs 2,000 allowance, and insurance coverage worth Rs 5 lakh.

He accused the ruling double-engine government in Bihar of fostering corruption instead of development, claiming that people continue to suffer from poverty, migration, inflation, and unemployment. He added that the time had come to reach out and directly communicate with the public.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav announced that his party, if voted to power, would waive interest on loans for up to two years to ease the financial burden on people. He also unveiled plans for two welfare initiatives, BETI and MAA, with the latter standing for housing, food, and income. Yadav said the schemes are designed to strengthen families, ensure basic needs, and boost livelihoods across Bihar.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has released its list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections, fielding 143 contenders across the state. The official list was released on the last day of nominations for the second phase. 24 women candidates are among the 143 named as contestants.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will contest from Raghopur constituency, Lalit Yadav from Darbhanga Rural, and Dilip Singh from Barauli, Ram Vilas Paswan in Pirpainti (SC), and Savitri Devi in Chakai.

With this announcement, the shape of the Mahagathbandhan alliance is also clear, with RJD contesting 143, Congress 61, CPI ML 20 and the remaining likely to go to Mukesh Sahani’s VIP. There maybe last last-minute withdrawals as well as the alliance has not been formally announced.
